Milk Maker Bites & Motherly Love

As soon as we came home from the hospital, my mom had a batch of “Milk Maker Bites” ready and waiting for me. I still remember that first bite—soft, chocolatey, filled with oats, flax and love. She knew exactly what I needed before I even did. That’s just the kind of mom she is!
For the next few weeks, she stayed with us, wrapping our new little family in a warm cocoon of care. She cooked nourishing meals every day, kept the laundry going, made endless snacks (especially those magical bites!), and took care of me so I could take care of my baby.
There was something so deeply comforting about having her there in those raw, tender postpartum days. She held the baby when I was overwhelmed. She refilled my water glass and told me I was doing a good job when I cried from exhaustion. She reminded me to eat—even if it was just one more bite of a milk maker ball as I nursed Walter in bed.
Looking back, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. Those weeks were such a blessing. My mom helped me rest, recover, and settle into motherhood with a full belly and a full heart.
And yes—milk maker bites are still a MUST 4.5 months later. A little taste of love, support, and that powerful mother-daughter time I’ll never forget.
Pro tip: Have your mom come stay with you after you give birth.
Couldn’t have survived without her!
